Turn Your Business Goals into Objectives That Make It a Game

When you have business goals, the only way they’re ever going to happen is if you set your goals and objectives, write them down, and track them. It’s fun to use gamification for this process because it’s the perfect condition to set up rewards like stickers, badges, a progress bar, and other incentives to keep going. Here are some ways to successfully turn your business goals into objectives with gamification.

Make Sure Your Goals are SMART

Learning the right way to set up goals and objectives is essential to your success. Goal setting properly is truly the foundation of success. Setting SMART goals forces you to ensure that they are the right goals to go after. SMART stands for specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely. That means that you can easily track it, and since it’s practical, it’s something that is possible. It’s okay to make huge goals, but if they’re impossible, there is no point in setting that goal.

Write It All Down

When you set any goals, it’s essential to write them all down so that you can understand them better. When you write them down, you want to write down every single aspect, from the significant ultimate objective to the first step you need to take to see it to fruition.

Set Up Your Daily Actions

Based on the goals, you should be able to set up some type of daily action that gets you to the goal you’ve set. Each goal needs daily actions that ensure you really reach it.

Identify Potential Obstacles

As you’re setting up the goals, it will help you to identify and make a note of and plans for any potential obstacles. You don’t need to go down a rabbit hole, but you need to set up what-if scenarios to give you options if a realistic obstacle exists. In other words, don’t make up blocks that don’t exist but do consider potential barriers.

Set Milestones and Rewards

Once you have your goals appropriately set and the daily actions you want to take that will lead you to realize your goal, it will help to associate those actions with milestones and, of course, rewards. Those rewards will give you the incentive to keep working each day toward the objectives you’ve set using SMART goal-setting practices.

Visualize Your Success

Using software or even a chart on your wall, set up a way to visualize your success. You can use a poster board that you put right on your wall that you color in physically with a marker as you track your progress and success. You can also use software to accomplish this. It’s totally up to you.

Set Up Flexibility

In any schedule that you make, including flexibility will ensure that you reach your goals promptly. You don’t want to give yourself unlimited time for things, but you do want to set up contingencies when needed.

Track It All

Set up tracking so that you can know where you are and where you’re going. You can use software like MS Excel, or you can do it old school with a poster board and stick it on your wall. It only matters that you do track and plot so that you can visually see where you are and where you’re going.

Get Help

Whenever you want to get things done, it always helps to get help from your community, an employee, software tools, or anyone that motivates you, such as an assistant or life coach, or counselor.

Whether you incentivize yourself with rewards, a poster board on your wall, or using technology – it doesn’t matter. The point is that you want to set up your goals so that they’re genuinely achievable by taking small daily actions and that you are motivated to do those actions each day. Gamification of your goals will help.
